Water transfer printing is a process that uses a thin layer of water-soluble film to decorate a product. This film is placed on a surface of water, where it begins to dissolve. Once the film is partially dissolved, it is coated with a patented activator chemical, which causes the ink to stay in an oil-like state on top of the water. The part is then immersed into the bath, where the upward pressure of the water will cause the ink to stick to the item. Once it is completely dry, the item is removed from the water and is protected by a clear coat.
